Warming centers open around Chicago area

CHICAGO (WLS) -- As brutally cold temperatures sweep across the Chicago area, warming centers open to keep residents safe and warm during the frigid weather.

Oak Street Health Services announced that beginning Monday, Jan. 5, until Friday, Jan. 9, all seven of its community centers across the city will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offering free coffee, hot chocolate, tea and entertainment.

Additionally, community centers like the King Center at S. Cottage Grove Avenue also serve as warming centers during 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
