WAUKEGAN, Ill. (WLS) -- Waukegan police are talking for the first time about an armed robber who opened fire inside a liquor store Sunday night.

A robber wearing a yellow mask yelled at the clerk at Big Daddy Liquors on Grand Avenue and then fired a single shot into a cooler. He got away with cash.

Police say the fact the robber fired his weapon makes their search more urgent.

"We're very concerned that there was a suspect doing armed robberies with a gun is bad enough. But the fact that there was a shot fired this really raises our concern as a community and as a law enforcement agency," Waukegan Police Cmdr. Joe Florip said.

Police want people to know that the man is armed and dangerous and anyone with information should call 911.
