Woman attacked on New Lenox walking trail, police say

NEW LENOX, Ill. (WLS) -- A woman was attacked on a walking path in southwest suburban New Lenox, police said.

The victim told police she was walking her dog on a path from Schoolhouse Manor Park to Hickory Creek Plaza, which is located in the 1800-block of East Route 30, just after 6:25 p.m. Saturday.

Police said that's when a male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt came up behind her, pushed her to the ground and tried to take off her pants.

The woman said she was able to fight off the attacker, who ran toward the park. She told police her dog may have bitten the suspect.
