CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago woman leaning over a railing died after falling from Upper Wacker Drive to Lower Wacker early Sunday morning.

The family of Gennera Lee, 25, said it was a freak accident that caused her death. Sunday afternoon, police continue to investigate how the young mother of three slipped over a rail and fell to her death.

"This girl was young, but very driven, very driven," said Sonya Lee, the victim's aunt.

A grief-stricken Sonya Lee fondly remembers her niece just hours after she died in a fall onto Lower Wacker Drive around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Relatives say the tragedy happened while Lee was spending a rare evening out after working the catering job that supported her and three children.

"She was very simple, very homebody, she loved her grandmother," Sonya Lee said. "She loved her children, she was just a normal human being."

Lee's aunt said the incident happened after the party bus her friends had rented stopped in the 400-block of Upper Wacker Drive. Witnesses said it was after the group got off the bus that Lee somehow slipped over a railing and plunged to her death on Lower Wacker Drive.

Officers who responded to the scene could be seen trying to comfort Lee's grief-stricken friends.

"What happened to Generra, I'm shocked. It still hasn't registered," Sonya Lee said.

Generra Lee died at the scene. Investigators say it appears her death was accidental and comes less than a month after her grandmother's passing.

Lee leaves behind three children, the youngest under two years old.

Sunday afternoon, those who knew Lee want her to be remembered for her kindness, generosity and her love of family and friends.

Lee worked at a downtown private club at the top of the Aon Building.
