CHICAGO (WLS) -- Many people take for granted things that they do every day, such as reading a bus schedule, filling out an application or helping your child with homework.

But many Chicagoans struggle with literacy and many others are trying to help them.

Now some of those organizations are coming together under one roof with the founding of the Literacenter in the Loop. It's a first-of-its-kind, co-working space. The goal is to collaborate, become more efficient and improve the literacy services provided to those who need them.

Stacy Ratner, co-founder of the Literacenter in Chicago, spoke to Tanja Babich about the center and literacy in Chicago.
