CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago's transit system may be enlisting Uber and Lyft to help provide services for the disabled.

Pace operates the paratransit operation. The disabled are legally guaranteed door-to-door rides. The average trip can cost from $23 to $57.

Anyone driving passengers with special needs would have to be trained, be drug and alcohol tested and have a vehicle capable of transporting the disabled.

Paratransit rides have to be scheduled in advance. Ride hailing drivers would need less notice.
