Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle in South Deering

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle around 9 a.m. near 116th Street and Avenue O in Chicago's South Deering neighborhood.

Police announced the fatality at the scene, but did not release any further information. There are reports that a semi driver was backing up and a steel beam hit the person who died, but those reports have not been confirmed.
