WILMINGTON, Ill. (WLS) -- A small herd of bison is roaming free at the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie in Wilmington, Ill.

Long ago it was a traditional grazing ground for American bison.

Now, thanks to the National Forest Foundation 15 to 30 bison are back on 1,200 acres of protected land.

A webcam will eventually stream live video of the animals.
