Suburban shelter asks for help as rescued animals readied for adoption

BEECHER, Ill. (WLS) -- A suburban shelter that rescued more than 70 animals from a home needs help from the public.

Settler's Pond in Beecher, Ill., has been caring for dozens of dogs, chickens and other animals since they were taken from a home in Steger, Ill. In the process, the shelter has racked up nearly $20,000 in medical bills caring for them.

The shelter is asking for the public's to help cover the costs of getting the rescued animals back into good health and ready for adoption.
