Woodstock PD mourns death of first police K-9 Brinx

WOODSTOCK, Ill. (WLS) -- The Woodstock Police Department announced the death of the department's first police K-9, Brinx, on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the age of 11 years and 5 months.

Police said Brinx began his career in law enforcement in 2006, working with handler Sgt. Arthur "Ray" Lanz. He retired on New Year's Eve 2013 and lived as a member of the Lanz family until his death.

In appreciation of Brinx's public service, Woodstock police said he will be added to the Northern Illinois Police K-9 Memorial at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville in 2017.
