CHICAGO (WLS) -- Community activist William Dock Walls has announced that he is running for mayor of Chicago.

Walls was an assistant to the late Mayor Harold Washington.

He ran for mayor twice before and once for governor.

Walls says he is urging Mayor Rahm Emanuel to declare a state of emergency to deal with the level of violence in the city.
