Police: 2 armed robberies within minutes near Loyola University
Police said three Loyola University students were robbed at gunpoint in Chicago's Roger's Park neighborhood. Another victim was robbed minutes later less than two miles away.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police issued an alert for the Loyola University campus and nearby North Side residents about two armed robberies that occurred within minutes of each other.

The first incident occurred on campus in the 1000-block of West Sheridan Road in the city's Rogers Park neighborhood as three Loyola University students were walking on Sheridan Road between Kenmore and Winthrop avenues around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

They were stopped by two men. Police said one was holding a silver handgun. The robbers demanded whatever valuables the students had on them. They took the victims' wallets and phones and ran west on Sheridan Road toward North Broadway.

Police said another person was targeted soon after on the 2100-block of West Pratt Boulevard in Chicago's West Ridge neighborhood, about two miles away. The two robbers got away in that victim's car.

Investigators said they are looking for two African American men between 25 and 30 years old. The suspects are between 5'6" and 5'9", weigh between 140-180 lbs. and have medium builds. They were wearing dark jackets or hooded sweatshirts with cargo pants and baseball caps.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.

Police encourage residents to report and suspicious people or activity in the area and to be aware of their surroundings.
