Bark in the Park was canceled due to canine influenza, but you can still help the cause.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The outbreak of canine influenza is forcing the Anti-Cruelty Society to cancel its annual Bark in the Park in 2015.

The event is the animal welfare organization's biggest fundraiser of the year. So to stop the spread of the disease, this year, the Anti-Cruelty Society is hosting an online pet extravangza called iBark in the Park.

The virtual dog walk encourages animal-lovers across the Chicago-metropolitan region to "walk where they are". On Sunday, May 3 pick the time, place and unite friends and family, with or without your furry companions, and join The Anti-Cruelty Society's community of caring to donate. David Dinger with the Anti-Cruelty Society brought along a furry companion to ABC 7 to talk about the importance of this year's event.
