Driver shot on Dan Ryan Expressway near 31st St., police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was shot in the wrist while driving on the outbound Dan Ryan early Monday morning.

Illinois State Police said the shooting occurred on I-90 near 31st Street at 2:50 a.m. The man drove himself to Mercy Hospital, where he is being treated.

Police have not said if the shooting appears to be random or if the victim got into an altercation.

Several lanes on the Dan Ryan were closed while police searched for shell casings. It reopened a short time later.
