CHICAGO (WLS) -- It has been a wet, dreary Halloween for many Saturday and although some decided to stay indoors to celebrate, many others dressed up and paraded down the streets.
It was all about the last-minute touch ups at The Shift in Uptown, an emergency Halloween clinic open Saturday to help the undecided.
"If someone just doesn't know what they are going to be, they are on their way to a party or have some plans later (Saturday night) with no idea what they are doing, they can come in here browse through our materials," said costume designer Anna Glowacki.
The selection is unique, from the queen of spades, a costume made of shells, or something in between, they are ready.
There was no shortage of costume ideas on Milky Way outside the Mars Chocolate Factory on the Far Northwest Side, even in the pouring rain.
"It's just a great atmosphere," said Jose Castillo. "You see so many costumes so many kids having fun here."
Continuing a 40-year tradition, thousands of people lined up for free handfuls of candy and when the handfuls ran out, they unloaded them by the truck-loads, and kids of all ages enjoyed the treats.
"They had fun and they have candy," said Leticia Gonzales. "I don't think they need any more trick or treating after that."
The rain did not stop the 17th annual Northalsted Halloween Parade in Lakeview, fully equipped with a costume contest.
Although the day was rainy and messy Saturday, messing with costumes and decorations, last year at this time, it was actually snowing.
