Car driven by 96-year-old woman crashes into Aurora retention pond

AURORA, Ill. (WLS) -- A 96-year-old Downers Grove woman was rescued Friday after the car she was driving crashed into a retention pond in Aurora.

The crash occurred near Bilter Road and DuPage Parkway, but the cause of the incident is under investigation.

Police said civilians assisted police in getting the woman out of the water.

She is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
