Russell Simmons promotes non-violence in Chicago
Media mogul Russell Simmons stopped by WCL on Sept. 6, 2017 to talk about his non-violence efforts in Chicago.

Russell Simmons is a mega mogul who has shaped the music world by introducing hip-hop and rap to the masses. His numerous businesses range the gamut from clothing to online media to jewelry to financial empowerment to charity. For the past 20 years he has adopted a vegan lifestyle and gotten immersed in yoga. And with those changes he has been involved with spreading the word about non-violence through meditation.

Russell also co-founded RushCard, a pre-paid credit card that helps people with limited incomes to manage their money more effectively.

RushCard is pledging $50,000 to The Peacekeepers in Chicago for training residents to make peace in their neighborhoods.

Russell is also in Chicago to talk to high school students about non-violence and meditation.

Meet Russell at a Peacekeepers' event to recruit people for their peacekeeping training.

The event will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Larry's Barber College, 10456 S. Halsted St., Chicago.
