SCHILLER PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- One person was killed and another injured in a possible road rage shooting in west suburban Schiller Park, police said.

Investigators said a 53-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were shot while driving a black Honda sedan in the 9500-block of W. Lawrence Ave.

"I heard the bullets, the shooting," said Mohammed Lazyy.

Neighbors said they heard 4 to 5 pops, then saw the black sedan hit a tree around 11:50 a.m. Some neighbors also said they saw the teenage occupant of the car pounding on a door, pleading for help.

"All the kids play and now my niece is scared to come out because of all the gun violence that's going on right now," said Philip Slezewski.

As nearby schools were locked down, witnesses said a teen got out of the car desperate for help.

"The girl who lives right here, she heard somebody push the door and want to get in, and they left a blood print," said Salvatore Calabrese.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The man was rushed to a local hospital, police said. No further information on the man's condition was provided.

Schiller Park police conducted a search of the area and determined there was no immediate danger to residents.

The West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting the Schiller Park Police Department in the investigation.
