Man charged in sex assault of woman he met on Backpage.com

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was charged in the sexual assault of a woman he met on Backpage.com, police say.

Police say Roy Akins met up with a prostitute but didn't have the money to pay her. When the woman showed up at his home in Chicago's Austin neighborhood, police say Akins assaulted her at gunpoint.

Prosecutors say the 29-year-old sent text messages apologizing to the victim.

He was later arrested and police say he confessed to the crime.
