Police: Girl, 5, sexually assaulted on South Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 5-year-old girl was sexually assaulted this week near the Jackson Park beach house on the city's South Side, police said.

The incident happened between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday near a parking lot next to the Jackson Park beach house in the 6300-block of South Lake Shore Drive, police said.

A man walked up to the girl and made inappropriate sexual contact with her, police said. The mother was nearby and called for the child, causing the man to flee in a blue pickup truck with a black cab, police said.
