CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago animal shelter wants you to take a dip in chilly Lake Michigan on Jan. 24 to support their cause.

The 7th Annual Shelter Shiver brings some of the bravest pet-lovers together to make a splash in freezing water. Registration is just $25.

The plunge will take place at 10:30 a.m. in freezing weather at North Avenue Beach. The money raised supports the ALIVE Rescue, providing homes for Chicagoland dogs and cats.

The founder of ALIVE Rescue, Kristen Gerali, joined ABC 7 live from North Avenue Beach to talk about adopting pets from the shelter, and the Shelter Shiver.
