Halloween Costume
Fantasy Costumes on North Milwaukee Avenue has been helping people escape from themselves since the early 1970's.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Most of the year's hottest costumes come straight from the headlines.

Fantasy Costumes on North Milwaukee Avenue has been helping people escape from themselves since the early 1970's and every year, it's what shapes the world that shapes the Halloween costumes.

"Super Heroes are really hot. Recently deceased celebrities Prince and David Bowie and Alexander Hamilton's pretty popular this year," Cherish Criswell, a Fantasy Costumes employee, said. "We have rental costumes that include the jacket, the cuffs, jabeau, and we also sell the wig."

All you have to do to complete the Hamilton costume is learn how to rap, sing and dance. But if you can't do that, you can always get ugly. There's plenty of ugly around the costume shop.

And despite all the talk about scary clown costumes being pulled out of the stores, Fantasy is selling them in big numbers.

"Because it's in the news, scary clowns, it's Halloween. Anything that's in the media people want whether it's good bad or ugly," Chuck Giovence, general manager of Fantasy Costumes, said.

Needless to say, political masks and wigs are very hot, too. But for Trump a funny thing happened on the way to the election.

"Oh, Donald was out selling Hillary by two and a half times to three times up until about a week ago," Giovence said. "The third debate and sales kind of took a dive. After the third debate his sales declined. Now he's making a rebound."

Fantasy costumes is the place to go if you want to be someone else for anywhere from $10 up to $300.
