BURR RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- For the second year in a row, the village of Burr Ridge is honoring the service of our military with the Run for Veterans 5K and Push-Up Challenge. Pauline Ozols started the run after learning about the mental health issues affecting U.S. veterans. The run is being held at the Burr Ridge Village Center on Sunday, July 26th, 2015. In addition to the run, Run For Veterans has teamed with Orange Theory Fitness to hold the Push-Up Challenge, a 90 second test for participants to do as many push-ups as possible.

Last year the event raised close to $14,000 for Volunteers of America-IL. All proceeds from the 2015 5K will benefit Lone Survivor Foundation, a group which restores, empowers, and renews hope for our wounded service members and their families through health, wellness, and therapeutic support. Post-race, participants can enjoy a live band, face painting, food, and awards ceremony. Pauline Ozuls, founder of the Run for Veterans, joined ABC 7 Eyewitness news live for the Weekend Morning before the start of the race.
