CHICAGO (WLS) -- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a time to reflect on Dr. King's legacy, and the service organization Chicago Cares is honoring his message of unity through community service. The organization connects people, communities and causes, and it is mobilizing about 1,000 volunteers for its Celebration of Service.
All over the city, volunteers are painting murals, beautifying schools and more on Saturday, Jan. 17. Jenne Myers, CEO OF Chicago Cares, joined us live during Eyewitness News Saturday Morning news from Boone Elementary School on the city's far North Side, one of the sites where volunteers were going to work.
