Giant water slide helps beat heat in Peoria

PEORIA, Ill. (WLS) -- People in Peoria are finding a new way to beat the heat this weekend with a 1,000-foot water slide.

For the second year in a row, the city brought in the giant slip-n-slide, which is set up to reuse water throughout the day so it wastes as little as possible.

The fun is part of a fundraiser for St. Jude Research Hospital.
