Importance of mentoring
Role models and mentors can play an important role in a young person?s development into adulthood.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Role models and mentors can play an important role in a young person's development into adulthood. Through mentoring, students can learn how to transition into the workforce by focusing on company culture, employee engagement, work performance, and making worthwhile investments. Mentees are promoted five times more than their non-mentored counterparts according a study conducted by Wharton.

Sandy Marsico, the Founder and CEO of Sandstorm, has been a mentor for young people looking to get into technology. The Northwestern alum believes having a good mentor is her reason for success. She sat down with Eyewitness News to talk about why being a mentor can change lives for the better.
