Interchange named after IL state trooper

ITASCA, Ill. (WLS) -- An Illinois State Trooper was recognized for his bravery, 30 years after his death.

Illinois State Trooper John Kugelman's family was on hand as the I-290 at I-355 interchange in Itasca was named in his honor. The interchange marks where the Eisenhower Expressway and the Veterans Memorial Tollway meet.

Kugelman died in a crash in 1986 while trying to stop a speeding driver.
