PARK FOREST, Ill. (WLS) -- What do you do when you find yourself locked out of your Facebook account? How about call the police?

Police in south suburban Park Forest posted to their official Facebook page Friday morning that officers responded a to a call for service after a resident was locked out of their Facebook account.

"Policing in the 21st century. #NotKidding," they added.

Police said that while its request was unique, it's not the first strange call they've gotten.

"While this may be the first time we've been called for someone being locked out of a social media account, it's only one of a long list of strange calls we've had over the years," said Chief Christopher Mannino.

Mannino said the department receives approximately 18,000 calls for service each year. And while it may seem like a call for Facebook help would be a hindrance, the chief said they'd much rather take your unusual call.

"At the end of the day, though, we'd rather have someone call than not. And while we had some fun with this post, we're still always here to serve, even if all we can do is offer some advice," he said.
