HAYWARD, Calif. -- Hayward police rushed to look for a boy who was reported missing on Tuesday. To their surprise, they found him rather quickly.

He had run away from home because he gave himself a haircut that did not go as planned and he didn't want to face his family.

Police posted a picture on Facebook of Officer Tran stepping in to give the boy a clean new cut.

In a Facebook post that does not show the boy's face or give his age, two officers are seen talking to the boy.

"This was another story with a happy ending. We were dispatched to a call of a young missing juvenile. All available units saturated the area and we quickly found the young boy. Turns out he was embarrassed to face his family because he had decided to give himself a haircut that did not turn out well. In the midst of his tears, Officer Tran said he could fix it. Officer Tran grabbed the clippers and gave the boy a nice new look."
