Project Hero hosts Honor Ride

SKOKIE, Ill. (WLS) -- A bike ride through the north shore is helping veterans and first responders affected by injuries, post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries with their rehabilitation. The 2017 Project Hero Chicago Honor Ride brings cyclists of all skill-levels together for a day of community and fun. The ride starts at the Evanston Subaru in Skokie at 8 a.m. on June 11, 2017. Riders can choose from bike-friendly routes ranging from 20 to 60 miles, with rest stops along the way.

The non-profit Project Hero was founded in 2008 as a service to help veterans and first responders. Project Hero builds and provides adaptive bikes to physically-challenged and injured veterans and first responders and has helped tens of thousands of our Healing Heroes at no cost to participants through cycling events, community-based programs in more than 50 cities throughout the US and by supporting research. Project Hero participant Kenny Richardson joined ABC 7 live from the Chicago Honor Ride route to talk about the event and how you can still help.
