Things to do on Mother's Day in Chicago
Still figuring out what to do for Mother's Day? You still have some time to find the perfect gift for mom on her big day.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Still figuring out what to do for Mother's Day? You still have some time to find the perfect gift for mom on her big day this Sunday.

Beauty is abundant at City Scents; fresh flowers and lots of love for the mom in your life.

"Everybody has a mom, then they've got the mother-in-law, grandma, new moms, it's crazy. But it's a good crazy. We love it!" said Theresa Montana of City Scents Floral & Home.

Montana not only owns this bright floral shop in Streeterville, but she's also a mother of three. But she's worked 29 Mother's Days in a row! Her kids take her out another day.

"They take me out to dinner and they give me wine," Montana said.

And spoiling mom is what Melissa Rubio of Chicago hopes to do.

"She has done so much for me, I just want to make sure I go to a great florist, pick out a wonderful arrangement and just do something that she deserves," Rubio said.

The same is true for Jordan Wimby.

"When I was really young, I remember my mom saying, 'You have 364 days to buy for Christmas, my birthday and Mother's Day,' so it stuck to me," Wimby said. "Every year I do something and every year I feel like it's my opportunity to show my appreciation."

Maybe it's a Mother's Day brunch you're planning - the Tortoise Club on State Street plans to spoil mom. There will be food, flowers galore and instant photos. Plenty of fun.

"We have little frames that will have different mother quotes throughout the restaurant, so we're really just trying to make a nod to that woman who does it all for everyone throughout the year," said Megan Addington, Tortoise Club owner.

Afterwards, mom may want a sweet treat. Terry's Toffee has a maternal connection. A photo of owner Terry Opalek as a baby with his grandmother hangs on the wall.

Here, you can grab tons of toffee and even a hat box full of delectable delights.

"This was based on my grandmother's recipe, her mother made the toffee a long time after that, it has that mother energy," Opalek said.

After all, spoiling the mother in your life is what it's all about, and you may want to send her some flowers.

"I don't get many flowers though, that should change. They should start doing that," Montana said.

And you still have time to get flowers - or anything - to make your mom feel special.
