CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Women With Drive Foundation is helping women out of poverty in the Chicago area.
The non-profit organization provides a car to women and gives them a two-year plan to independence. While cities, like Chicago, have extensive mass transportation systems, many women in poverty still find getting to-and-from jobs difficult without a stable vehicle. The Women With Drive Foundation taps existing resources and other non-profit groups, like the YWCA, to help women more efficiently find work and better their lives.
The founder of the Women With Drive Foundation, Molly Cantrell-Kraig, and Shquestra Sitawi from the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago, joined ABC 7 Eyewitness News to talk about how the organization is helping women in Chicago.
