PHILADELPHIA (WLS) -- The Chicago Blackhawks have placed goaltender Corey Crawford on injured reserve, the team said Tuesday.

Crawford was hospitalized Saturday to undergo an emergency appendectomy in Philadelphia, where the Hawks were taking on the Flyers. The team doctor said they anticipate a full recovery.

According to the Blackhawks, Crawford has posted a 12-6-2 record in 20 games played this season with a 2.27 goals-against average, .927 save percentage and two shutouts.

Scott Darling got the start for Crawford Saturday and the team signed Eric Semborski to serve as an emergency backup.

The Blackhawks host the Arizona Coyotes Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
