CRETE, Ill. (WLS) -- This week, we feature Crete-Monee High School on ABC7's Friday Flyover, celebrating high school sports!

Crete-Monee High School is home to over 1,600 Warriors that come from four communities: Crete, Monee, University Park and Park Forest

Last year the Warriors were the 2012-2013 6A Football State Champion and the Special Olympics Basketball Champion for the state of Illinois. Tonight, they go head-to-head with rival Rich East High School at home.

FAST FACTS:

Academics

CMHS offers and accredited engineering program, Project Lead the Way, as well as a robust selection of Advanced Placement courses and an expansive duel-credit program with Prairie State College. In addition to a wide-array of course offerings, Crete-Monee High School prides itself on its variety of co-curricular opportunities for students. Whether singing in a musical, mentoring freshmen in the Ignition program, or sparring with friends in the Boxing Club, Warriors are involved in their school and ooze school spirit.

Show Choir/ Band

The Warrior band program has a long standing tradition of excellence receiving accolades at local and state level competitions. The drum majors for the past three seasons have won the Best Drum Major award at every competition they have attended. Our award-winning show choir Cavaliers and Faces were featured on ABC 7 three years ago on the inaugural Show Choir Showdown.

The Warrior Football Team/Fall Sports

Tonight the Warriors will host their annual Breast Cancer Awareness game versus Rich Central High School. For the last seven years the football program has held their annual Breast Cancer Awareness game in an effort to bring awareness to this devastating disease and to show support to all of the women that are battling this disease. The "Pink Out" is our way to honor all of the women in our lives who have spent countless hours supporting us in all of our endeavors. Our soccer team and volleyball team also host Pink Out games and raise money for various Breast Cancer charities.
