CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Cubs had the day off Monday after getting swept by the Milwaukee Bewers at Wrigley.

The team attended Kyle Schwarber's inaugural block party to benefit first responders as part of his Neighborhood Heroes campaign, a cause that means a lot more to Schwarber than baseball.

Schwarber said his father was a police officer for over 31 years, eventually becoming police chief before retiring. His mother, a nurse, met his father while she was a police dispatcher. His sister now works at the police station where his father was chief.

"I'm lucky enough that baseball worked out, but without these people out there...keeping us safe, I wouldn't be able to do that, so I thank them a lot," Schwarber said.
