A retiring high school soccer coach and teacher was surprised Sunday with news that he was going to Los Angeles to attend the Espy Awards.
Brian Papa, who works at Lincoln-Way East High School in south suburban Frankfort, received round-trip tickets to Los Angeles and tickets to the award ceremony in July.
The tickets were courtesy of Buddy's Helpers and PepsiCo.
Papa was honored during a ceremony in McCook for making a difference in the lives of thousands of students since 1978.
