CHICAGO (WLS) -- A four-hour standoff with a Chicago Police Department SWAT team ended peacefully on the city's West Side early Sunday evening.

The suspects could be seen being led by officers out of the building on the 1200-block of St. Louis in the city's Lawndale neighborhood in handcuffs just after 5 p.m. Sunday.

The incident began just after 12:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon when police said an officer saw a man go into the three-flat building with a gun. Police evacuated the building, which has three occupied apartments, and a SWAT team was called in. A team of officers entered the building around 4:30 p.m.

A family member of one of the men who has been holed up inside said he put his nephew in charge with negotiators, saying that he and three others who were inside would surrender.

That family member also insists that none of the men in question were armed and that they were simply afraid to come out, for fear of being shot.
