Police said around 9:20 p.m. Sunday, a 2006 Infiniti heading south in the 19800-block of Crawford Avenue tried to pass a 2005 GMC and crashed into it. Both vehicles left the road and were badly mangled. Neighbors said they heard a big boom.
"I just heard a loud scraping noise and a huge thud. I think there was two or three cars involved and there was some people fighting, yelling at each other, saying, 'You should have slowed down,'" said Eric Ray, who lives nearby.
Police identified the driver of the GMC as 52-year-old Robert Munse, of the 19400-block of Oak Avenue in Country Club Hills. He was taken to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, where he was pronounced dead at 12:36 a.m. Monday.
A passenger in the Infiniti, a 22-year-old man from University Park, was also taken to St. James, where he later died. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
The 24-year-old driver of the Infiniti and a second passenger were treated at St. James.
Flossmoor police and the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating the crash.
