BROADVIEW, Ill. (WLS) -- A clogged interior drain caused flooding on the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) at the 25th Avenue viaduct, closing the inbound and outbound lanes for several hours, Illinois State Police said.

The Eisenhower re-opened around 3 a.m. Wednesday, before the morning rush.

Flooding closed the Ike in both directions around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday after a bout of heavy rain. Drivers were stuck on the road for hours as cleanup crews redirected the water to a different drain.

State police said the clogged drain also caused high-standing water in the same location in west suburban Broadview last week.
