DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. -- Illinois Route 390 will be closed in both directions overnight this weekend for beam installation on the new flyover ramp that will connect westbound I-290 to westbound Route 390.
The full closure includes the westbound lanes of I-290 near the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway.
The closures are scheduled to be in effect from midnight on Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday. The same work is scheduled to begin at midnight on Sunday. The closures are expected to lift by 5 a.m. Monday ahead of the morning rush.
Detour signage will be in place to direct drivers around the overnight closures:
-Traffic on westbound I-290 will exit to Route 390, continue across the expressway and enter westbound I-290 again.
-Traffic on Route 390 in both directions will be detoured around the closure via Prospect Avenue, Arlington Heights Road, Devon Avenue, Rholwing Road, Nerge Road and Meacham Road.
-Route 390 traffic entering I-290 will be detoured to Biesterfield Road.
The beam installation is part of the $3.4 billion Elgin-O'Hare Western Access Project. Up to 240,000 vehicles pass through the area daily.
