HOMETOWN, Ill. (WLS) -- A woman was hurt after a Metra Southwest Service train struck the SUV she was driving near West 87th Street and South Pulaski Road in south suburban Hometown.

Police said inbound train #808 hit the Chrysler Pacifica around 7:25 a.m. Wednesday in the intersection. The train was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 7:55 a.m.

Emergency crews were able to get the driver, a woman in her 40s, out of the vehicle. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver was the only person in the SUV. No one else was hurt.

Trains were briefly stopped in both directions while crews cleared the scene. Service resumed around 8:10 a.m. with 25-45 minute delays.
