Public meeting to be held on I-55 'managed lanes' plan

JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- After a plan to put "managed lanes" on the Stevenson Expressway has been given a green light, the people behind the project are looking for the public's input.

The plan includes adding toll lanes within the existing median of the Stevenson between Interstates 355 and 90/94.

They're redesigned to reduce congestion on I-55. The existing expressway will remain free.

A public hearing will be held this Wednesday December 7 at the Holiday Inn Countryside on Joliet Road between 4 and 7 p.m.
