CHICAGO (WLS) -- Metra is reviving a study into a possible extension of service into Kendall County.

The study involves extending the BNSF line past Aurora and into the communities of Montgomery, Oswego, Yorkville, Plano and Sandwich.

The engineering and environmental study was halted in June 2015 because of concerns regarding Metra's ability to secure the necessary funding for the project.

If approved, the line extension could cost more than $200 million.

It could take two more years for the study to be completed.
