The weather is getting warmer, and that means it's time to start planning your family vacation! There is a world of possibilities to discover. Kendra Thorton, President and Owner of Royal Travel & Tours, joined ABC 7 with tips on picking on finding the right destination and to share some of her favorite places to visit this year:

Jackson Hole, WY

Jackson Hole is not just for skiing - celebrate the National Park Service's 100th anniversary this spring! Springtime brings prime wildlife viewing in Yellowstone National Park and Spring Creek Ranch is the right place to stay. The ranch has a team of Naturalists who lead guests through the park to give them an intimate nature experience, without the crowds. In the spring, the resort offers the "Rising Stars of Wyoming Package," where guests will see the most popular mammals calving, birds migrating, bears emerge from their seasonal slumber, and more. The package is $645/person and includes 3 nights lodging in a deluxe hotel room with wood burning fireplace, breakfast daily, plus the all-day safari as well as evening stargazing with the PHD Astronomers of Wyoming Stargazing. Flights with one stop from Chicago to Jackson Hole start at $539 RT in April.

Caribbean - Turks + Caicos

Located on 400 feet of the purest white sand in the Caribbean, Gansevoort Turks + Caicos perfectly marries Caribbean cool with sophisticated style. Noted for its distinct design, plush accommodations and perfect location, the hotel sets the benchmark for simple elegance in the Caribbean, making it the perfect destination for a quick springtime getaway. The property's oversized guest rooms, stunning 7,000 square foot infinity-edge swimming pool, on-site Exhale Spa and gourmet culinary offerings provide the ultimate retreat. Spring rates start at $595/night and the resort is offering a great promotion where you get the fourth night free or if you stay for seven nights, you only pay for five. Both of these offers are applicable on all room categories and promotion ends October 31, 2016. Round Trip flights from Chicago are running from $470 in April.

Walt Disney World (Orlando)

If you have younger kids not tied to school calendars the best time to visit the Orlando WDW parks is in April and May after the spring break rush. Kids two and under are free to all the parks and there are some great areas designated specifically for the little ones. Disney's Animal Kingdom has some exciting new openings this spring - the all new Rivers of Light waterside show premieres on Earth Day (April 22) which will transform the park from a day into night experience with innovative effects and storytelling, plus Disney's Animal Kingdom will showcase a festive street party and more. This park is great for introducing kids to the jungle, desert and forests with exotic animals, teaching them about African animals, prehistoric creatures plus fuzzy beloved Disney characters. Stay on the free monorail, which makes it so easy with young children - Disney's Polynesian Village Resort was recently reimagined after nearly a year of renovations - this relaxing tropical paradise with lush landscaping, waterfalls and more was remodeled back to its original splendor on its 1971 opening day and now features new dining offerings, a fun water play area for kids, plus one- of-a kind over the water private bungalows. Spring packages are available and rates are as low as $452/night.

Honolulu, Hawaii

Spring is the start of the "dry" season in Hawaii and the weather is almost always perfect plus it's a good time to find travel bargains especially after mid-April. A 5-night air plus hotel package with Apple Vacations that includes nonstop air on United Airlines and a resort view room at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort is $1,729 per person (based on double occupancy). In honor of the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, Apple Vacations is also offering a Pearl Harbor excursion for $75 for 2, which includes a visit to the Arizona Memorial and Punchbowl National Cemetery plus a guided tour of downtown Honolulu. Package rate based on June 2 departure but other dates available (prices may vary.)
