SKOKIE, Ill. (WLS) -- The 16-year-old girl accused of killing an Uber driver with a machete missed her court appearance Wednesday.

The Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday the reason Eliza Wasni was not in court was because she is hospitalized. Her public defender did not give any further details on her condition.

Prosecutors said Wasni hacked Grant Nelson to death in May with a stolen machete shortly after he picked her up for an Uber ride in north suburban Lincolnwood.

Wasni's court date was moved to next week, when she is expected to enter a plea.
