GARY, Ind. (WLS) -- U.S. Steel has laid off another 285 workers at its Gary Works mill.

This is the latest wave of layoffs brought on by a weak demand for its steel. U.S. Steel says the layoffs are temporary.

The steelmaker's tubular business plunged along with the price of oil, nearly eliminating the demand for new drilling equipment.

Another problem is cheap imported steel.
