WAUKEGAN, Ill. (WLS) -- There is a new effort to improve relations between people and police in Waukegan. The government is stepping in to give the northern suburb some help.

Waukegan officials met with the Department of Justice and representatives from the agency's community relations service. The service works to settle disputes over civil rights issues between local governments and residents.

The team has not developed a specific plan yet, but another meeting is scheduled for early in the new year.
