Strong to severe storms were already popping up late Thursday morning in western Illinois.

The best chance of severe weather in our area will be from noon until 5 p.m., says ABC7 meteorologist Phil Schwarz.

Residents in northwest Indiana have the greatest chance of seeing severe storms.

City aviation officials say at O'Hare International Airport there are 20-minute delays and 100 flights canceled so far Thursday afternoon, but officials said those numbers could rise.

At Midway, there were no cancellations, but some 20-40 minute delays.
