Pleasant Halloween weather is expected to bring out more ghosts and goblins.

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- Halloween 2016 was the warmest in years, and brought out increased numbers of ghosts and goblins.

In Downers Grove, recently named among best cities for trick-or-treating by Nextdoor.com, costumed children hit the pavement as early as 4 p.m. Monday.

Temperatures were in the high 50s and low 60s, and mostly dry throughout the Chicago area.

The mild temperatures were a stark contrast to two years ago, when the Chicago area saw it's only measurable snow on Halloween and temperatures barely reached mid-40 degrees.

Chief Kurt Bluder, of the Downers Grove Police Department, had reminders for Halloween safety - walk in groups, use sidewalks, wear light-colored costumes and reflective gear.

Downers Grove was named among the best U.S. cities to trick-or-treat by Nextdoor.com.
