Woman attacked while walking to CTA Blue Line Cumberland stop

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman was attacked early Monday morning while walking to the CTA Blue Line Cumberland stop on Chicago's Far Northwest Side.

The 37-year-old woman was walking through a parking garage in the 8400-block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue to the train station around 4 a.m.

Police said that's when a male suspect approached her from behind, knocked her to the ground and demanded she take her clothes off.

The woman managed to break free and run to safety. Police said the suspect fled south.

The suspect was described as an African American man between ages 24 and 26, with brown eyes, black hair and a light complexion. He was between 5 ft. 5 in. and 5 ft. 7 in. tall, weighed around 130-140 pounds and was wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt.

Police urged people to avoid walking in the area alone, to avoid secluded areas and to call 911 to report any suspicious activity.
